 Misspent Youth Tour

In 1989 Shy set out on the "Misspent Youth Tour" . Starting off in the U.K on their own headline tour ending in concerts at The Astoria . They set off for U.S.A after the last Astoria gig on 13/04/90.

This tour was to promote the album "Misspent Youth" album released on M.C.A. in 1989.

The second leg of the tour was in the U.S.A.   Shy's album in America was released under the monicker Shy England.

Upon hearing that M.C.A had signed a hard rock outfit called Shy, they renamed themselves Shy, and M.C.A. prefered to rename the band  to promote them Stateside. So SHY England went on tour supporting Enuff Z Enuff and Sleez Beez.

The tour involved the band touring in a Greyhound type bus without air conditioning! The band returned to the U.K. and were slotted onto the Hunter & Ronson Tour across the U.K.

A third single was released "Broken Heart" and the band completed the tour.

Due to the production problems on the album M.C.A .made it clear that the single releases were re-mixes when to be honest a remixed album would have been a better idea.

The band finished the tour and it soon became apparent that Tony Mills was leaving the band. This came as somewhat of a surprise and the band had to think about their future. If indeed there was one in the form of SHY.

M.C.A. weren't interested in another album without Tony Mills, and indeed offered Tony a solo deal. Tony Mills didn't take the deal due to management advice of better possibilities in the States. These didn't materialise and when the offer was chased up it was no longer on the table.

SHY meanwhile had to find another vocalist if they were to continue. Auditions took place over the next couple of years.

Many vocalists auditioned, but for one reason or another it didn't work out. At the end of 1991 "Jon Francis" formally of "After Hours" was taken on . The band renamed themselves as "Black Cat" and set about doing a few  gigs. This didn't work out again. Jon  Francis had an amazing voice but it wasn't gelling as a unit. The band had to think again.

At  the end of 1992  Shy contacted John Wardi - or "Wardi" as he is known better. Former singer of Madame X. Wardi was in Los Angeles and flew back. Wardi had known the other Shy members from school.

The band were set to write their comeback album "Welcome To The Madhouse" - but that's another story.
